Vine Leaves Literary Magazine mentorship program

Not to beat you over the head with our mandate, but Vine Leaves has
always been about supporting our fellow writers—giving voice to a
writing style that is often ignored in traditional publishing circles.
This year, we're taking that support one step further.
We receive thousands of submissions annually—good, great, AMAZING work from talented writers across the globe. While each submission is carefully considered by our editorial team, some are a little harder to reject than others. These submissions straddle the line between "not quite right" and "almost,"they contain a certain spark, or the writer has demonstrated an impressive work ethic. Those submissions give us an extra little ache when we hit the "decline" button.
But this year, we've decided to select one of those vignettes per submission period and mentor the writer, work with him or her until the piece goes from "not quite right" to "this is perfect for us." We're excited to continue our support of YOU—and continue to thank you for your support of us.
Submissions are currently open.
The next issue of Vine Leaves Literary Journal goes to press April 18, 2014 - lots of time for you to get your vignettes in. The deadline for submissions is February 28, 2014.
